eXprescient has announced general availability of DS eXpress Tools (DeT) version 1.5. The new features in DeT version 1.5 include consolidated inventory reports from multiple DS servers, job status reporting, E-mail-based job monitoring, integrated multi-screen Windows 7 remote control, full support for the DS security model, and an improved install experience.

Most of the new features in DeT version 1.5 are the direct result of suggestions made by those who have used earlier versions of DeT. The ability to pull inventory and other reports simultaneously from multiple DS servers is an innovation that will allow IT personnel to instantly obtain integrated information from multiple DS servers without resorting to manual SQL queries or other difficult to use tools. Job status reports and job monitoring via E-mail allow for flexibility and improved productivity when performing complex migration and deployment tasks. Integrated right-click remote control from inside the DeT console allows for easy and reliable multi-screen remote intervention for all systems including Windows 7. Full support for DS role and scope security allows you to deploy DeT with confidence knowing that all assigned rights and roles will be honored. The improved install experience not only allows you to install DeT on the same machine as DS or on a different machine, but it provides for a smooth installation in most environments.

eXprescient will be demonstrating the latest 1.5 version of its DS eXpress Tools at Symantec's Vision 2010 trade show in Las Vegas, April 12-15, 2010. Come visit with us at booth 23. DS eXpress Tools (DeT) is an add-on to Symantec’s venerable Altiris Deployment Solution 6.9 (DS 6.9) product. DeT enables DS-based enterprise-wide endpoint management control and reporting, including consolidated inventory, thin client, and job status reporting from multiple DS 6.9 servers. DS 6.9 is the industry-leading deployment and endpoint management solution that is currently being used by thousands of companies world-wide.

DS eXpress Tools extends and enhances the capabilities of DS 6.9 by installing a co-resident server which directly accesses the DS 6.9 database, allowing for real-time reports. The DeT console provides a user interface refresh to the current DS 6.9 console, while allowing control over multiple DS servers.

eXprescient Co-Founder, Jonathan Richey, was the lead architect and manager for Altiris DS 6.9 during his seven years with Altiris/Symantec. He has now brought his wealth of knowledge regarding deployment, efficient network management, and pre-boot environments to eXprescient and DS eXpress Tools.

eXprescient has announced that version 1.1 of its initial product, DS eXpress Tools, will be available for download on Thursday, February 18, 2010. This new release includes improved performance and the ability to connect to multiple DS 6.9 servers from a single console.
